Stay human in the age of intelligent machines.
Enlightened Mind presents films, conversations, and contemplative experiences exploring consciousness, creativity, and what technology reveals about being human.
Twenty-five centuries ago, the Buddha made a quietly radical claim: that with genuine diligence, a person could awaken in as little as seven years. He was not the only one to find this door. The Christian mystics called the same silence the place where the soul meets God. The sages of the Upanishads called it the recognition that the Self and the source of all things were never separate. Different languages, different faces, each pointing at the same stillness.
I came to this through the Vedic understanding of consciousness, and more recently through the stillness Buddhists call shamatha and Christian mystics call Christ consciousness. I don’t experience these as competing maps. They are descriptions of what becomes available when we learn to grow quiet.
We stand at the dawn of an enormous opportunity. This ancient inner work is unfolding alongside a new intelligence. The question is not how powerful AI will become. It is older and far more exciting: if a single person can awaken through diligent practice, what might humanity awaken to, together, in conscious partnership with what we have made?
That is the opportunity. The risk is that we don’t take it. That we let AI become just another flashy tool to distract us, to pull us away from who we truly are.
The Backstory Behind this Website
I’m a documentary filmmaker, an Ayurvedic health educator, and a Qigong practitioner. I’ve practiced meditation through many lenses: from the Theravadan tradition in Thailand, to the Christian mysticism of Thomas Merton, to the yogic path of yoga nidra.
My path here was definitely not a straight line. I grew up in Canada and studied Film and Television Production at the University of British Columbia, then did a master’s in Media Philosophy at the European Graduate School in Switzerland. In my twenties I moved to New York and spent years producing and directing for networks including HBO, PBS, and the Sundance Channel.
It was a life I had wanted… but it nearly undid me. The pace of the city, the long hours, the stress, and a slow erosion of the things that keep a person well all took their toll. My creativity, focus, and energy drained away, and I found myself living with real anxiety. That unraveling turned out to be a beginning.
What followed was more than twenty years of searching for what actually heals, drawing on both the newest understanding and the oldest. I studied meditation with teachers in the United States, Thailand, and India, and at the Baan Taad Forest Monastery in the Thai forest tradition. I completed a two-and-a-half-year training in Qigong and along the way trained as an Ayurvedic Health Educator through Dr. Vasant Lad’s American Institute of Vedic Studies and became certified with the Center for Integrative Hypnosis.
Enlightened Mind is where I share my inquiry as it unfolds. I explore it through writing, immersive experiences, and self-guided practices that explore the spiritual dimensions of AI, the contemplative traditions, and the meeting place of stillness and intelligence. What I’m offering is an invitation: to explore the edges of consciousness with clarity, creativity, and care, and to find out, together, what we might awaken to.
