Tapping is also known as EFT or “Emotional Freedom Technique”. It is an energetic healing modality that helps release energetic blockages by tapping various points on the body. These points coincide with traditional acupuncture meridians. Tapping on one point can help all the meridians clear and lead to optimal flow.

What is tapping used for?  I have used tapping for a wide variety of ailments, both physical and emotional. For some people, just a few minutes of tapping has released years of stuck trauma and other debilitating conditions. To explore case histories of past successes, I recommend visiting Gary Craig’s website at emofree.com.  At Creative Change Hypnosis tapping is used to:
  1. Reset the psycho-spiritual energy system.
  2. Release stuck energy
  3. Install healthy patterns
  4. Create positive changes fast.
What if I don’t believe tapping works? In my experience, tapping works whether someone “believes” in it. Skeptics are welcome! However I have seen in my life and in my clients’ lives and based on many hours of study and research – tapping works even though we may not fully be able to explain it from a rational, western perspective. By gently stimulating various points on the body stuck energy moves.  What is the relationship between tapping/EFT and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) In Traditional Chinese Medicine, these energetic channels were mapped over 5000 years ago. In Ayurveda (the Indian “science of life” and forerunner to Chinese medicine) these are known as marma points. In these two systems emotion, spirit and the physical experience are interconnected. Most of these energy points are found near depressions or dips in and near the bones where energy pathways converge. That said, tapping is not acupuncture and does not need the same level of accuracy. Meridians are the channels. There can be excess or deficient energy…stuck or excess. Tapping regulates the energy. Can tapping change one’s emotional state? Blockages and imbalances in our body’s energy system can have deep effects on emotional well being. Releasing blockages often leads to rapid change. Each point also corresponds to an emotion. You might find that you have points that are more sensitive than others.   How many points are there?  The points that are closest to the skin are easiest to access. There are several principal points used in most forms of tapping. However, there are many other energy points that are seldom used. I will cover those in subsequent videos and articles. This can be a sign that stuck energy lurks. Others feel a buzzing or tingling. Sometimes emotions arise as energy flows.  What is the karate chop point for?  The karate chop point corresponds to an important acupuncture point linked to the small intestine. It travels from the pinkie finger along the side of the hand and all the way to the head. It has a powerful effect on the endocrine system. Emotionally it sets the ground for the ability to release what is no longer needed and invite what is needed into one’s life. It also lends a sense of clarity and helps to absorb wisdom gained via the tapping.  What is the eyebrow point used for?  This point (on both sides of the body) is part of the bladder meridian. It is an excellent stress reliever. When energy flows through this point correctly you have all that you need to fulfill your potential. It harmonizes the emotion and helps one see the path forward. It also relaxes and rejuvenates the entire nervous system.  What is the side of the eye point used for?  This point is part of the gallbladder meridian. It is an excellent point to help stop overthinking or when someone suffers from indecision. It also helps stop obsessive thoughts and addictive behaviors. The gallbladder is linked (on an energetic level) to the ability to take action with courage. People who are overly shy, timid or prone to becoming discouraged often have stuck energy at this point. It helps release resentments, past emotional wounds and opens up to courageous change.  What is the under the eye point for?  This point follows the stomach meridian. It helps connect us with the earth energy. Did you know that emotions and experiences need to be “digested” by our energetic body similar to the way food is in the digestive system? Unprocessed experience leads to stuck energy and difficulty moving ahead in life. This point helps us develop trust in this process of change and ourselves.
